New Horizons:
DEVONthink 4.1 Europa
In September, we released DEVONthink 4.1 Europa, the first major feature release for DEVONthink 4. It brings new AI integrations, a script assistant, enhanced AI capabilities for image editing, and support for Cornell University's arXiv research and archive service, among other things.
We're also introducing our Neo Network Utility 2.0 with new features and a fresh interface, and sending DEVONthink To Go 4.0 on its first test flight. It does not only sport a modernized interface but comes with countless new features across all areas. You're invited to come aboard.

It's a captivating world encased in an icy shell that hides a global subsurface ocean, one of the most promising locations for extraterrestrial life in our solar system. Discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei, its name, rooted in Greek mythology, reflects its enduring allure as a symbol of curiosity and the unknown.

Use the latest natively supported models like Anthropic's Claude 4.5 Sonnet or OpenAI's GPT-5, or integrate server-based AI models via OpenRouter. Let an image generation model refine your pictures and use Cornell University's arXiv service for your research. Our new AI-powered script assistant helps you write your own scripts. Beyond that, version 4.1 brings a new Quick Look extension and lets you edit even large Markdown documents more reliably.

Neo Network Utility 2.0
Last year our Neo Network Utility brought back an easy way to check your Mac’s network setup or swear informedly about slow server connections. Here's Neo Network Utility 2.0. Use multiple tools simultaneously and in multiple windows, view the SSID and BSSID of a network connection, and query DNS data via the modern RDAP protocol. We've also updated Neo Network Utility to macOS Tahoe and given it an interface overhaul.
All similarities with an application of the same name that was once bundled with legacy versions of Mac OS X and OSX are, of course, purely coincidental.
DEVONthink To Go 4 Beta
If you follow our blog or our Mastodon or Bluesky accounts you already know: DEVONthink To Go 4.0 has taken off to its first test flight!
The new generation brings a modernized design and countless new features: Use generative AI, organize your data with customizable smart groups, and save multiple versions of your documents. Enrich documents with custom metadata and let revision-safe databases protect critical data from changes.
[DEVONthink is] the best and most useful software ever created by modern humans. Have used it forever. The AI feature must be proactively coupled with the software by the user, so if [you're] like me and you don't want that AI functionality anywhere near anything, it isn't there at all.

The tutorial complements his still-excellent video series on DEVONthink 3 and illustrates the AI features, revision-proof databases, versioning, and how to add tables of contents to PDFs. DEVONthink is a fantastic database program. Easy to use and works seamlessly if you are working on a project with one or several other researchers. Highly recommend!
How to Put Items Back in Place
Did you accidentally move that top confidential document with all the secret codes to the trash, or did the internal AI file it incorrectly? No problem. Just select the item at its new location, Control-click it, and choose Put Back from the context menu. This also works for actions listed in Window > Log. DEVONthink 4 simply puts the item back in its original location. This feature is also available in DEVONthink To Go.
