DEVONtechnologies News

Fall is here and with it comes perhaps the most picturesque time of the year. We think of pumpkins and chestnuts, cinnamon cookies and tea. Why not take a leisurely stroll through the rolling countryside? Grab a hot chocolate, relax, and enjoy the enchanting display of nature's artistry. But before you put on your scarf, we have a few bits we'd like to share with you.

We have published updates for DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go with improvements and fixes. A new research guide made by the University of Texas at San Antonio helps you getting started with DEVONthink and so do also a few of our own new tutorials. And if your network connection is slow or unrealiable, we have something too: our free Neo Network Utility tells you more. Finally, for all of you longing for some good news, we have not just one but eighteen for you, including a big "thank you"! We wish you a beautiful season 🍁

Neo Network Utility

You need to know if a remote server is still alive or already swimming belly-up? The connection to a server is slow and you want to find out more about what sightseeing detours your data packages take? Or you’re on the hotel Wi-Fi and plan to flip out on the poor network speed based on proper empirical data?

Out little Neo Network Utility provides you with a wealth of useful tools to retrieve information about your network adapter and diagnose typical network problems: Netstat, Ping, Lookup, Traceroute, Whois, Finger, Port Scan, even Network Quality, they're all there. Get Neo Network Utility completely free-of-charge from our website.

All similarities with an application of the same name that was once bundled with legacy versions of Mac OS X and OSX are, of course, purely coincidental.

I use the DEVONthink apps daily on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. This app is a must-have for anyone who wants to stay well-organized.

DEVONthink's Hidden Settings

Did you know that there are some hidden settings in DEVONthink? Only a few users need these settings, so we have put them out of sight to keep the regular settings as lean as possible. Instead, choose Scripts > More Scripts and install the Open Hidden Preferences script. Run the script via Scripts > Tabs. Voilà, you get all the additional options in their shy glory including some explanations.

I am all in on DEVONthink. It’s marvelous.

Of Syncs, Sorters, and Servers

You already know our tutorials, small slideshows explaining things in a structured way. For them we take a bit more time than for the short tips on our blog. In our latest tutorials, we explain how our sync works and how to use the Sorter. We also explain how DEVONthink Server makes it easy to share your databases with other users, whether they have a Mac, Windows PC, or Linux machine. Choose Help > Tutorials from DEVONthink's menu bar to access them.

Eighteen Happy Children

In past years, we have regularly made donations to the organization Deutsche Cleft Kinderhilfe (German Cleft Children’s Aid), supporting the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate from families in need. Last year, we were once again able to support the organization financially and cover the costs of altogether eighteen surgeries. We have since received the news that all the treatments were successful and the children are doing well. But the credit for making this possible goes solely to our customers — you. Thank you 🙏
